A series on marketing leadership and innovation.
The Cannes Film Festival isn't the only fashionable event held on the southeastern coast of France.
Between June 22 and June 26, CMOs, influencers, CEOs, creative marketing professionals, and more flock to the resort city to attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity — also known as the Oscars of advertising.
And while at the event, many of those attendees are flaunting fashion status symbols, from designer necklaces to trendy footwear.
Business Insider is on the ground in Cannes and keeping an eye on what stylish attendees are wearing. Here's what's stood out so far.
Statement necklaces are in again.
MarketCast CEO Lana Busignani paired her statement Chanel necklace with a striped outfit and chunky glasses.
Men are wearing dress shorts and sneakers with suede touches.
Adim Isiakpona, cofounder of The People Company, paired his burnt-orange shorts and Adidas sneakers with a graphic button-down top.
Some are making statements with monochrome looks.
Nicole Weatherbee and Heather Unruh Yost, both Salesforce employees, paired bold outfits with neutral bags. Weatherbee donned a bright-orange set, and Yost chose a mint-green look.
Woven and rattan bags are everywhere.
Karin Kildow, who works for CCG Social, accessorized her neutral top and miniskirt with a woven bag.
The more colorful, the better.
Aba Blankson, the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at NAACP, wore a rainbow dress with short sleeves and exaggerated pockets.
You can't go wrong with designer sunglasses, especially from brands like Prada.
Ashley Thorpe and Hannah Diddams both wore vibrant dresses, designer sunglasses, and bold jewelry. Diddams' shades specifically came from Prada.
Men are having fun with accessories, too.
Two men were spotted wearing statement crossbody bags at the festival. One sported a black Swissdigital design that featured multiple pockets, while another wore what looked like a leather Hermès piece.
