Morgan Stanley on Friday shared the names of the 184 executives who were informed earlier this week that they're being elevated to managing director, the firm's highest designation.
They're set to join the cadre of top brass who steer the prestigious Wall Street bank, noted for its wealth management, capital markets, and financial advisory businesses.
This year's MD class is about 6% larger than last year's group of 173. It comes as Wall Street banks head into what executives and dealmakers generally expect to be a more active dealmaking environment. Nearly half of the new managing directors — about 48% — come from the firm's Institutional Securities Group, which houses its client-facing investment banking and trading businesses.
Winter promotions are an annual rite of passage on Wall Street and follow similar elevations at rivals, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. The firm also announced annual bonuses to its employees this week, as reported by Business Insider.
